Discover Mayuri Indian Restaurant

If you're looking to dive into authentic Indian cuisine in Tallahassee, look no further than Mayuri Indian Restaurant. Nestled on 1324 Simpson Ave, this hidden gem is known for delivering a delightful fusion of traditional Indian flavors in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

From the moment you walk through the doors of Mayuri, you're greeted with the tantalizing aromas of spices that fill the air. The rich scent of cumin, coriander, and turmeric blends seamlessly with the earthy scent of freshly baked naan. The restaurant exudes a relaxed, inviting vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. It's a place where every dish tells a story, steeped in the rich culinary traditions of India.

One of the standout aspects of Mayuri Indian Restaurant is its expansive menu, which covers a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Whether you're a seasoned lover of Indian food or trying it for the first time, there’s something for everyone. The menu includes classic favorites like chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and lamb rogan josh, but what truly sets Mayuri apart is its dedication to authenticity.

Each dish is made with fresh ingredients, and the chefs take pride in crafting each meal with the perfect blend of spices. For example, the butter chicken here is simply a must-try. The chicken is tender, marinated, and cooked to perfection, drenched in a rich, creamy tomato-based sauce that's flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy. Paired with a warm, fluffy naan or a serving of fragrant basmati rice, it’s a dish that’s sure to leave a lasting impression.

Vegetarians will also find plenty of delicious options at Mayuri. The chana masala, a spicy chickpea curry, is packed with flavor and is the perfect balance of heat and tanginess. The dal tadka, a lentil dish infused with ghee and spices, is another highlight that vegetarians rave about. It’s simple yet comforting, offering a taste of Indian home cooking that feels both satisfying and nourishing.

Mayuri also shines in its variety of appetizers. The samosas, crisp on the outside and bursting with a savory mix of potatoes and peas on the inside, are perfect for sharing. The pakoras, deep-fried fritters made from vegetables or paneer, offer a delightful crunch with every bite, and their mild dipping sauces are a perfect complement.

When it comes to drinks, Mayuri has an excellent selection of Indian beverages. The mango lassi is a crowd favorite-smooth, sweet, and refreshing. It’s the perfect drink to balance out the heat from some of the spicier dishes. If you prefer something with a bit of a kick, the masala chai, made with bold black tea, milk, and a blend of warming spices, is a great choice to end the meal.

While Mayuri is primarily known for its exceptional food, the service here is equally noteworthy. The staff is attentive, friendly, and always happy to offer recommendations if you're unfamiliar with certain dishes. They’re passionate about the food they serve and make sure every guest feels well taken care of. This level of customer service adds to the overall experience, making your visit to Mayuri feel special.

The restaurant is also committed to providing an authentic Indian dining experience, which includes not just the food, but also the atmosphere. The décor reflects India’s vibrant culture, with colorful artwork and traditional elements that make it feel like you've stepped into a piece of India, right in the heart of Tallahassee. It's an experience that truly captures the essence of Indian hospitality.

In addition to the regular menu, Mayuri Indian Restaurant offers catering services, perfect for events or parties. Whether you're hosting a gathering or simply want to enjoy their dishes at home, Mayuri provides a convenient way to enjoy their flavors wherever you are.

If you're in the Tallahassee area, Mayuri Indian Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking a flavorful, satisfying meal. The combination of expertly prepared dishes, friendly service, and a warm atmosphere makes it one of the best spots for Indian cuisine in the area. • We have always eaten here for dinner but never had their lunch buffet. I was skeptical because of recent reviews but we decided to try it anyway. The price is clearly posted when you walk in and they have a small but good selection of food. Drinks are self serve and are included with the meal including masala chai. The food was not as flavorful as when you come here for dinner but was still very good. There was more sauce than meat in the butter chicken but it still a good amount for us to get a nice portion. For reference we arrived to eat at 12:30. All in all we would recommend eating here for lunch but dinner is where they really shine with service and food.

  • This is a delightful cozy place. The food is superb. For instance the Lamb Vindaloo is lively with plenty of perfectly cooked chunks of lamp in a bright sauce with fluffy rice. The portions are generous.

  • I recently discovered a great restaurant in Tallahassee, Florida that offers a wide variety of food options. I tried their brunch and it was amazing. The restaurant was very clean and tidy. To get your food, you have to take a metal dish (called a thali) and walk through the buffet line. The food was very fresh and tasted great. I highly recommend this place, especially if you want to take your friends and family out for lunch or dinner. One thing that could be improved is the placement of the TV screens. They were mounted too high up on the wall, making it difficult to watch them comfortably. I hope the owner can adjust their placement in the future. Overall, I had a great experience and plan to visit this place again soon with my loved ones. Also, if you're wondering, all the meat used in their dishes is halal, which is great for those who only eat halal food.

  • We were a party of 10 and visited the restaurant on our way back from Panama City Beach. While we reached the restaurant close to the closure time, they were more than happy to have us. The service too was very good and so was the food. Will definitely recommend.

  • The food was excellent! The service was so-so. The waiter never brought me a refill, luckily I had the water also, but I would have liked a refill with a spicy meal! We ordered the Pakora, Garlic Naan, Butter Chicken & Mayuri Special Chicken Biryani with Basmati Rice. Everything was so good!! Will return for lunch buffet one day!!

  • 06/09/2023 New favourites! I ordered chicken sukha, chicken 65, chilli paneer and gobi Manchuria. Chicken sukha $15.99 was the best and chilli paneer $14.99 was the worst. Chicken 65 $14.99 is very mild and gobi Manchuria $12.99 tastes ok, portions size reduced for the starters. 03/31/2023 I ordered a few starters (chicken 65, chilli paneer, and cut mirchi) for take out and had a great experience. Quality, quantity, taste, accuracy and time everything was good. I’ll come again! 05/20/2022 First positive experience! I ordered chicken 65 and it tastes delicious, quantity is good and looks great. Server was attentive, order ready in time. I request the management to keep your services and food consistent. I will try again and let you all know. I am rating only 3 because all my previous visits are disappointed. 05/12/2022 I tried this place after 6 months and ordered chicken 65 and chilli fish. Chicken 65 was over fried and fish tastes ok not great. Also ordered carrot halwa, strange thing is I got fried onion which smells with biryani masala in it. Maybe they save it from buffet and sell it in the evening. I can give 2 star to this place. Previous Visits Experiences Not Authentic, and Poor Service. I ordered food from this restaurant 3 times in a month to try if there is any improvement in the taste and service. I am disappointed with taste, quality and service from the restaurant. I tried chicken 65, chilli chicken, tandoor chicken, chicken chettinadu curry, Andhra chicken curry, goat biryani, goat curry, chapathi and gulab jamoon. Chilli chicken was extremely spicy and you can’t eat two spoons also the chicken was not soft. I believe they are using frozen meat, both chicken curries are taste the same and very blunt, they used boneless meat for curry and not mention in the menu. I felt like adding boneless chicken in rasam. Goat biryani is like Coloured rice, I don’t understand why your restaurant uses so much artificial Colors. Gulab jamoon and goat curry was ok but not great. When your food is delayed they don’t inform, and don’t even know how long we have to wait. Another mention is bite squad orders all the menu items are overpriced tandoor papad is $12.99 online and at the restaurant $2.99. Bite squad said the restaurant controls the prices and restaurant said bite squad controls the prices.
